Outside The Comfort Zone

As the New Year turned, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. Moving to a new place, tattooing in a new town, training at a new gym, To my pleasant surprise though, all of these transitions have went very smoothly & the change of scenery seems to be sparking new motivation and focus!
The most unfamiliar of all of these changes has been the change in gyms. However, it has been a very pleasant transition. I've been training for the past few years at Ultimate Fitness with Team Alpha Male in Sacramento and have come to know pretty much everyone in the gym to some point.

Opportunities, Opportunities......

My world has been somewhat of a whirlwind lately, but a good whirlwind. Both areas of how I make my living are really picking up and presenting me with great opportunities in both realms....
In the fight realm, I have 3 fights tentatively scheduled between now & the end of January 2012. The first will be October 29th in Monterey forwww.cagevscons.comin a 5000 seat venue. I saw the production quality of their first show, and after seeing that, as well as the message and method behind the promotion, I am very happy to be working with these guys.

Tinkering......

So. I've been in a weird mental zone lately. Alotta ups and downs going on in my world. I'm just tryna keep plugging away and stay on point..... Adapt, adjust, progress and/or elevate, That's my motto for tough times.
Anyways, I've taken a break from training and fighting for a bit. I decided to give my family a summer that I can be available for. It can get hard to balance a full training schedule, keep up with my tattoo clients needs, as well as be a husband and a father.

Tough Decisions.... Smart Choices

The other morning, I woke up, got my glass of water to start the day and turned on the TV to watch some TiVo'd fights to kill time until breakfast (30 min after my water). I felt good, nothing on me really aching, aside from a tender neck I've been nursing for about 3 weeks, and I was full of energy. During this time I began thinking about how my summer was gonna be while I get ready for a fight..... Not much family time (when I do have it I'd be tired from training and working), limited work schedule (leaving customers waiting weeks to get a project finished, turning down new clients) and a very tight schedule to tiptoe thru daily with no time for tardiness in any area (being punctual is NOT one of my strongpoints).

Balance

Been a pretty hectic week already & it's only Tuesday!!!! Had two training sessions yesterday, hit the vocal booth for the first time in 5 years and did a  verse on a friend's album  yesterday as well while also squeezing in a tattoo. Hit an 8 mile sprint of a bike ride on my 24" BMX bike today, beasted thru a body weight workout circuit, did a tattoo at an ad/commercial shoot for Vibram Shoes at Echelon CrossFit in Rocklin and my body just crashed on me when I came home to change & hit the gym to grapple.

In A Weird, But Good, Place

So, it appears as if some changes are on the horizon.  After some discussion with my wife, it appears as if I will be relocating to the Bay Area. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of over congested city scapes. But, my wife has an opportunity to open her own salon. Being that the cost of living is higher in the Bay Area as opposed to Sac, she gets paid far more for her services than she would here in Sac.
To sweeten the deal, she has told me that she is willing to work fulltime so that I am able to focus on my fights and training.
